The Walt Disney World Resort is located near Orlando, Florida. The amusement park Walt Disney World consists of four theme parks, two water parks and 23 hotels.
It is one of America’s most visited attractions. The amusement park is located approximately 34 km southwest of the city of Orlando in Orange County.
Since Disneyland in Anaheim, California turned out to be too small, Walt Disney wanted to build a park that could be expanded at any time. In the early 1960s, for example, he bought a large area of land around Orlando and built the Walt Disney World Resort amusement park there.

Magic Kingdom (Cinderella Castle)
When the Walt Disney Resort opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom theme park with the landmark Cinderella Castle became the first area in Disney World. It is divided into seven themed lands: Main Street, USA, Wild West Frontierland, Fantasyland, Adventureland, futuristic Tomorrowland, Storybook Circus and Liberty Square.
Attractions in the Magic Kingdom area include the Disney Dreams Come True Parade, Wishes fireworks over Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain roller coaster, Mickey’s PhilharMagic 3-D cinema, Splash Mountain” and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a fast-paced ride through a mine.
Epcot (Spaceship Earth, the gigantic geodesic dome)
The model city EPCOT “Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow” with its landmark “Spaceship Earth” was opened in 1982. The theme park EPCOT consists of two sections “Future World” and “World Showcase”. It is based on an idea by Walt Disney and deals with the technological progress of mankind.
Attractions in EPCOT are the “Spaceship Earth”, which can be driven through the history of communications, the “Test Track”, a car test track where the visitor takes the role of a crash test dummy, and “Mission: SPACE”, a Flight to Mars simulated by centrifugal forces.
The World Showcase section consists of eleven pavilions from eleven nations: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Morocco, France, Great Britain and Canada.
EPCOT hosts two festivals each year, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival in the spring and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in the fall.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Mickey’s Magic Hat from “Fantasia”, Water Tower)
Disney ‘s Hollywood Studios, with its iconic Mickey Mouse Wizard Hat and Water Tower, is a theme park at the Walt Disney Resort in Florida that opened in 1989 and is themed around film and television.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is divided into the following areas: Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Streets of America with small replicas of New York and San Francisco, Animation Courtyard, Pixar Place and Sunset Boulevard”.
The main attractions are the “Tower of Terror”, a kind of freefall tower in the dark, the show “Fantasmic” and the “Block Party Bash Parade” with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
The Star Wars Weekends take place there every year in May/June over four weekends.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Tree of Life)
In 1998, Disney World opened with its new and largest theme park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The landmark of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an artificial tree, the “Tree of Life” in Orlando, Florida. Dedicated to wildlife conservation after Walt Disney, it is home to over 1700 animals from all over the world.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is divided into the following themed countries consisting of islands: “Oasis”, “Discovery Island”, “Camp Minnie-Mickey”, “Africa”, “Rafiki’s Planet Watch”, “Asia” and “DinoLand USA”.
The main attractions are the “Kilimanjaro Safari”, in which the visitor drives through an African savannah and the Expedition Everest, a roller coaster on which you are attacked by yetis.

Downtown Disney consists of many shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Downtown Disney is divided into three areas: Disney Village Marketplace, Pleasure Island and West Side.
