Women’s European Football Championship 2013

From Wednesday, July 10 to Sunday, July 28, 2013 to be held for women’s football European Championship in Sweden.

EK Women’s History

The first European Championship for women was in 1984. That year the tournament was officially European Competition for Representative Women’s Team. Sweden won the title that year.In 1987, second edition. From 1987 to 1997, the tournament every two years. From 1997 until today, finds Championships every four years. Germany is by far the most successful team in the history of the European Cup women’s football. They won the European title seven times. The only countries that managed to win this tournament was Sweden and Norway.

Germany is once again the leading candidate to win the European title. But this time they seem to get more than one competition over the last couple of times during the EC used. Other major contenders for the title, France is also the homeland of Sweden. In the women’s football World Cup in Sweden in 2011 was the strongest European country. They finished third by beating France in the consolation final.

Orange at the European Championships women 2013

This is the second time that the Dutch women’s team to participate in the European Cup women’s football. The last time was in 2009. Organization

This tournament is organized within the framework of the European football association UEFA. Except Sweden The Netherlands was the other main candidate to host this tournament. In October 2010, finally appointed to host Sweden. In 1997, the EC already organized in Sweden, even if they did when together with Norway.

The finals are played on Sunday, July 28, 2013. The competition will take place in Solna Arena. This is a stadium with a capacity of 54.329 spectators. It is home to AIK Soccer and Swedish national team.
